In-Home Newborn Photos with Baby Caden

This newborn session was extra special because Abby and Anthony are dear friends of ours. My husband and Anthony have been friends since high school, so getting to photograph their growing family and meet baby Caden was such an honor!

We met in their home for these in-home newborn photos, and it could not have been a more perfect setting.

One of the things I love most about in-home newborn photos is that they capture more than just your baby, they preserve the environment and season of life you’re in.

For Abby and Anthony, that meant documenting Caden in the nursery of their first born son, inside the first home they purchased after getting married.

The nursery was peaceful, filled with gorgeous natural light, and made the perfect backdrop for a relaxed newborn session.

One of my favorite parts of the session was photographing all the well thought through details they put into Caden’s nursery.

So much care went into creating that space, and I know those details will mean even more years from now when they look back at these images.

Of course, I also loved documenting Caden himself. He was an absolute angel throughout the session and gave us plenty of opportunities to capture his sweet sleeping face.

Those quiet moments often end up becoming some of the most treasured images.

Why I Love In-Home Newborn Photos

There is something so natural about photographing families in their own space.

Everyone tends to feel more comfortable, there is no rushing out the door, and the session can move at the pace your baby needs.

For newborn sessions, I always tell parents that the more relaxed you can be, the more relaxed your newborn will be. A feeding before the session is usually helpful, but I always build flexibility into the experience and will stop anytime baby needs to nurse.

My goal is never to force anything. It’s simply to document this season as it unfolds.

For that reason, I typically recommend scheduling in-home newborn photos in the morning or early afternoon when we can make the best use of natural light throughout the home.

Watching Abby and Anthony step into parenthood and seeing Caden so loved already was such a gift.

Sessions like this are a reminder that some of life’s most meaningful moments happen in the places we call home.

The nursery won’t always look like this. Caden won’t always fit in their arms quite the same way. But these photos will allow them to remember exactly what this season felt like.
