Martiah and Curtis found me on Instagram, and we hit it off right away. At the time, she had just recently moved from Arizona to Cleveland, where her husband is from, and what started as your typical Cleveland maternity photos session quickly turned into a friendship — which is always so special to me.

They wanted something timeless, a space that would allow for gorgeous black and whites and more formal portraits, while still leaving room to have fun.
That’s exactly why Suite 226 worked so well.
I love that the studio is a blank space. It gives you the flexibility to keep things clean and classic, but also shift the energy of the session depending on what feels natural in the moment. It never feels restrictive.

The session itself was so fun! We did lots of different options, which gave them a really well-rounded gallery without it ever feeling rushed.
Martiah is such a natural in front of the camera, especially in the black dress. Those ended up being some of my favorite photos from the entire session. There’s something about keeping things simple like that that really lets the moment stand on its own.
One of the sweetest parts of this session was that I was also pregnant at the time, and we were due around the same time.
We ended up bonding over all things pregnancy — packing our hospital bags, talking through this season of life, and just connecting in a way that went beyond the session itself.
That’s something I’ll always hold onto from this one.

A simple space, intentional choices, and room to just be yourselves is more than enough.
If you’re planning your own maternity session and want something that feels timeless and natural, I would love to connect and document this season for you!
